The Boyle paper differed from the personal reflection because with the personal narrative I knew what the thoughts and feelings of the author were because it was my own personal experiences. However, in the Boyle paper I had to analyze the text and use the text to understand the authorís thoughts on the subject at hand. I found the personal narrative easier to write because every sentence in the Boyle paper had to be analyzed and explained. It was really hard for me to try and make sense of every quote and make sure that everything flowed together nicely. I felt like I was dragging on in the Boyle paper and all of the quotes I was analyzing meant the exact same thing as where in the personal narrative it was a timeline of events that were different that related to one common meaning. The paper was also very hard to write because I constantly got disinterested and couldnít focus on the stories. Some of the weaknesses I have in the Boyle paper were that I didnít have a very big variety in the themes and quotes. Everything related to the common objective and I wasnít quite sure what to say about how the author felt about obsession other than it being bad. I didnít know how to go deeper than that and come up with the other meanings behind the authorís stories. Another weakness is that I felt like some of the paragraphs I wrote were too short and could have used more quotes from the text and more information as to why the theme was important. Some of the strengths I had in the Boyle paper were that I followed the outline as much as I could. I constantly used the process of quoting and citing and analyzing text. I also didnít give too much background information about the stories because with the audience already having read the text I didnít have to dwell on other information other than what related to the theme. Even though it was challenging writing about the theme of obsession and the authorís thoughts I do think I wrote a well-structured paper.
