Before even going to class, I was very nervous about how the semester would be. Just knowing that the class is called College Writing, made me very anxious to see what was in store. I do not enjoy writing a lot of papers in a class, especially if they are about poetry or analysis. ENGL 1100 has been different from other English classes that I have taken because it has been more of an independent study. I am used to having to talk to my teacher about what I am writing about and having to turn in a plan and a rough draft of any paper that I had to do. In other English classes there were many more steps to take during a writing assignment. I liked ENGL 1100 more than my other English classes because the reading assignments were extremely easy and intriguing. Last year, I had to read the book ď1984Ē which was like torture for me because it had a lot to do with government. Government is one of my least favorite subjects. Being in ENGL 1100 gave me mixed feelings about the class. For one, I liked how our reading assignments were and two, I liked the way everything was more independent. On the other hand, I didnít like having to do those papers in class. For example, the one where we had to take over the world in a certain way was difficult. I felt extremely unprepared and I donít do well on assignments that require a lot of quick thinking. ENGL 1100 made me feel like a very shitty writer by the grades that I have gotten on my papers. I now know that my experience of writing in the past was more laid back then I needed. Now I know that I need much more experience with writing. I believe I most benefitted from the cold reality of how bad of a writer I really am. I will admit that seeing those terrible grades on my papers has made me less motivated to write other papers, which is why I still havenít turned in my argument paper. I am deeply ashamed of that, but I just feel that I need to make my paper better, which has been proven very difficult for me. I feel that I benefitted least from the in class writing assignments; they havenít really helped my quick thinking ability. Not brown nosing, but I will say that I loved having you as my professor. The sarcasm and the humor definitely made the class more enjoyable.
