I chose the quote “Two roads diverged in a yellow wood and I, I took the road less traveled by, and that has made all the difference”, by Robert Frost. This quote really struck me and had my thoughts all over the place. It immediately made me think of my choices dealing with my education. In the past, I have seen many friends and fellow peers make bad decisions that would change their whole lives. From seeing them drop out of high school to skipping school to go hang out with friends, I knew one thing; and that one thing was that I never wanted to end up like those kids. The quote to me means that even in hard decisions you need to not always be a follower, but a leader. Just because everyone is going out to a party when they have a big test tomorrow morning, doesn’t mean you have to. You make the smart decision and do what is right. Lead the life you wish to live, and put your priorities first. This doesn’t mean that you can’t go out and have fun, but be smart and wise when you do. If you do this, you will have a bright, fulfilling life and future ahead of you because you decided to take that road less traveled. From personal experience, I know it will make a difference in your life because as I look back, I couldn’t be any happier with my life right now. After all these years of hard work and passion, I finally accomplished one of my long-term goals, getting accepted into college. After being accepted into ECU, I knew that was where I wanted to spend my next four years. I got many negative comments about “ECU’s reputation” and how I wasn’t going to do well in school because I would be partying every night. I decided to take that challenge upon myself. I prioritize and get all my studying and schoolwork done before even thinking about going out. By doing this, I smothered that reputation in the dirt and put it in the past. Life is all about decision making, and knowing when to accept Robert Frost’s advice of taking the road less traveled. That is when you will be granted a life of happiness and accomplishments.
