The quote that identified the most with me is “That which does not kill us makes us stronger” by Friedrich Nietszech. To me this quote underlines that there will always be put in our way but once we conquer those obstacles we become stronger. I am a firm believer in that everything happens for a reason and this line shows that in the end things will always be better. I feel that the quote has emphasis in my life because I had a lot of struggles throughout high school and middle school. As I got older I struggled with my grades, the fear of not fitting in, peer pressure, and family issues. I constantly got in trouble with my parents because of alcohol use and my grades slipping. There were points throughout high school where I constantly felt horrible about myself, I was bullied my sophomore and junior year because I changed schools and had no one to talk to. I felt left out because everyone had already made their group of friends and I didn’t feel accepted by anyone. I felt sorry for myself so I made excuses for my grades slipping. However, I finally realized that no matter how bad I thought my situation was there was always someone else who had it worse than I did. I am also thankful for having to been put through tough situations, it made me want to be a better person and treat people the way they should be treated. I believe through my own experiences the things that made me stronger was that I wanted to be helpful and nice to other people. It not only made me stronger in the sense that I became tougher and more resilient, but that I also became more considerate and sympathetic to others. I like to think of myself as more of an optimistic person now. I tend to look at the glass half full and believe that whatever you are going through in the current moment will pass and you will be a stronger person because of it. In the end all the turmoil will be worth it when you’re left with something greater than you ever expected.
