The quote I identify with the most is Frost’s “Two roads diverged in a yellow wood and I, I took the road less traveled by, and that has made all the difference”. A large aspect of my life involves the concept of individuality and the ability to differ myself amongst a crowd of my peers. Sometimes it seems that by choosing the path that will be most beneficial in the long run you may become isolated by your fellow peers as they tend to choose paths that will most benefit their fleeting goals. During my latter years in high school it became easier to distinguish those who would reach their full potential from those who would remain stuck on the same path. Because of the small town environment I grew up in the desire to reach my full potential and stand out from the crowd largely motivated me to take a path many of my peers didn’t so I could have the opportunities necessary to reach my ultimate goal. In doing so isolation was somewhat inevitable as those who focused on academics were ostracized by peers who choose to focus on short-term goals such as popularity. Upon graduation I was one of few who would be leaving the nearby area to attend a University. Although I often question my choices while making them because so few others made the same choices as I did, ultimately I am much happier with my choice now that I would have been had I choose to slack off and take the same path that was predominately traveled on. Even today in a university setting you can still see a large amount of people continuing on the path that they know they will not judged on instead of being themselves and finding their own direction. I find it hard to believe that the people who know what they want to do are criticized for choosing their own path and reaching for their goals. Overall while it may have been difficult at the time to take a path that few of my peers did, in retrospect I do not regret my decision at all as it has put me closer to reaching my goals.
