I find the Boyle stories to be very unique and unlike any other story that I have read. I believe that The Human Fly is my favorite. The reason I chose this story over the rest is because it portrays how far someone will go in order to be famous and to stay famous. Now, all everyone hears about is a celebrity doing drugs or getting arrested, no one really hears any good news anymore, which is sickening. It is almost as if the willingness to die, like the human fly believed, is better than actually becoming famous. People fear that they will lose their title or their look to the public if they do not have the media covering every story about them. This story really shows that any attention is good attention to anyone who wants to be famous. The story also shows the evils of being famous. You need someone to constantly keep an eye on you, and you are usually always in danger of something. This is why I like this story. The story I least liked was Carnal Knowledge. I did not like this story because even though I now know the moral behind the story, I think that Boyle could have conveyed it better and with a different plot. I felt that even though Alena tried to save all of the animals, she ended up hurting them even more. I feel that this is cruel and I believe that Alena at some point had to have known that. It is sad to see how much effort someone can put into something and have no reward come from it. The story that is unlike any other that I have read would most definitely be Modern Love. This is a creepy and disgusting story that is based off of love, but an artificial love. The love that the two have for each other is purely based off of wanting sex or wanting warmth and support of another person. Neither of these characters actually love each other and therefore, this story is sad. Also, it is weird because of how germaphobic the woman is and yet she loves weird diseases. I overall do not really like this story, but it is the most unique story that I have ever read.
