Boyle thinks both the obessions and greed are not useful. I feel that both the stories give good examples using both of these themes. The stories where the agents show that greed will not benefit anyone in the long run. Both agents have ironic situations because both of thier clients end up in bad situations. Both clients end up dead which is the exact opposite of what should be done by the agents, agents are supposed to protect their clients this shows that the agents are full of greed. The Obsessions are not helping anyone not even Zoltan or Wemp. Both of the clients show that the obsessions are taking over their lives. Along with the themes these papers also show irony. Both of the obsessions end up only hurting the people involoved. I think Boyle wanted us to really think about what we actually get upset and react over. I think in the end of the story when Zoltan and Wemp actually died that provied that Boyle thought the obsessions were crazy. I think that when the agents both benefited from Zoltan and Wemp dying really showed that they were greedy and didn't care about the clients at all. There was lots of stuff throughout the story that supported both of these themes. One main one that really stuck out to me was when Zoltans agent agreed to represent him even when he came into the office and looked so bad. Another one that stuck out to me was when Bayard Wemps agent didn't even make any eye contact with him because he didn't want Bayard to mess things up with his new clients. The theme obsession was shown when Zoltan became famous and he still wanted more, he wanted more and more until he finally died trying to get in the lime light. The other examples from the story was when Bayard and his wife had surgery to avoid issues that was out of anyones control. When this happened I felt that Boyle wanted us to question what was actually important in our lives and what was not. I think my thesis is an good example of what Boyle wanted us to realize about these two stories. I think Boyle was almost making fun of the way all the characters acted throughout the story. By Boyle killing off the main characters this showed that no matter what the outcome is if fate wants you to go your time will come. I really think about what's important and what's not important.
