The Boyle paper was different than the personal narrative because I was not writing about my personal experiences. For the personal narrative, people have memories . For the Boyle paper, I had to reread the short stories to make sure I understood what Boyle was trying to get across to the readers. I found that the personal narrative was easier to write about because it was a personal experience but the Boyle was easier to write four pages. The template that we received during class made it easier to write because all I had to do was fill in information. Assertion, Evidence, and Commentary is a good way to look at writing the Boyle paper. I think I picked a good theme to write about. Writing about greed and rich people’s obsession of money had plenty to write about. I felt that my strengths in the Boyle essay were writing good analysis in the explanation part of my body paragraphs. I wrote a lot of analytical essays in high school and I feel that my experiences have made it easier to write. I learned how to write about what the author makes the reader feel instead of writing a summary about the story. I also think I found good evidence that related to the assertion I made and it helped me write the rest of my body paragraphs. I think my introductory paragraph was good because I introduced the topic and wrote my thesis without going into too much detail. The body paragraph where I had to put all the stories together and explain how the all intermingle was hard for me. I felt like I continually repeated myself a bunch of times. The conclusion felt like a repeat of the previous paragraph as well. I think I did well proving my thesis in the conclusion paragraph even though I reiterated a lot of the same information. Overall, I think I improved over my personal narrative essay. I think I was more focused while writing my Boyle paper than I was while I was writing my personal narrative. During the personal narrative it was a struggle for me to sit down and finish the paper.

BOO! How did writing your Boyle paper differ from writing your personal narrative? Which one did you find easier to write? What do you feel were the strengths of your Boyle paper? Weaknesses?
