The English class Iím in now is amazing, I love it because there is so much interaction between the teacher and student. I had no idea the class was going to be like this because Iím so used to different college classes. When I was in high school there was a lot of interaction, but it wasnít fun. The classes were long and unorganized, and also the books were boring. When I was in middle school, my English teachers were crazy over these ĎWordmasterí challenges that we would have every year. I hated those and once I even got caught cheating because I stole the answer key. Crazy right? I would say the most beneficial thing Iíve learned in recent classes were that there were different styles of writing such as APA, and MLA. Also, that I am only familiar with only one of those styles of writing, MLA. The kinds of writing assignments I completed from the 5th grade to at least high school were mostly for research projects, book analyzing, or preparing for an AP exam that had a writing prompt. I am so, so terrible at writing papers with difficult prompts because it takes me a long time to decide a topic and then start the planning process. Plus, my AP English teacher was the type to just hand out grades, so once even the principle questioned her about why every student had at least a 95. Donít get me wrong, she was very attentive and answered every question about her papers, she was just way too lenient on grades. Thatís why this class, English 1100, is kind of scary to me because I now have the complete opposite of what Iím used to. My only con, is that Iím fearful that my writing is so bad that Iíll get a C and I really donít want one of those. So, Iím willing to work my very hardest, and even go to the writing lab in the library if I need to just in order to pass this class. I also want to meet with you whenever needed for assistance on my papers in the future! There have been so many good times in this class already, and Iím so excited for many more. (378)
