The T.C. Boyle story that I have liked the most out of the ones we have read so far was "On for the Long Haul." I liked this story the most because I think I understood it best out of all the ones we have read. When we had our in class essay on this story I thought this specific story was easiest for me to analyze and respond to the questions you asked. I guess since it was easy for me to analyze is why I liked it the best. Most of T.C. Boyle's stories are all over the place concerning their meanings and messages. For some reason " On for the Long Haul" was an easy read for me and I enjoyed it the most. "On for the Long Haul" was easy to understand mainly because of the limited number of characters and it's plot was pretty simple. From my understanding of this story's plot it was basically about the fear of the "apocalypse" brought on to the characters by Arkson. The fear that Bayard and Cullum endured was so intense to the point that they acted erratically destructive before the "apocalypse" took place. I also liked this story because of it's ending. I liked how T.C. Boyle left his readers guessing of what happened.
The T.C. Boyle story that I liked the least out of the ones we have read was "Carnal Knowledge." I did not find this story entertaining, and I also found it's plot to be meaningless. All it was about was some guy hooking up with some lady who's dog happened to urinate on him, and then the guy foolishly buying in to the girl's way of living and being manipulated by her. Basically T.C. Boyle just wrote a story to explain how gullible young bachelor's are when it comes to attractive women. In retrospect this story also supported the fact that women are crazy and manipulative. The girl Alena in this story was just a bat shit crazy, Jezebel of an eco-terrorist who used some poor guy for sex. She also used this guy to commit the stupidest of crimes by releasing some turkey's from captivity and save them from slaughter. This lady was so crazy she didn't even have a plan for these unfortunate birds after their release and they ultimately became road kill in result of her actions. "Carnal Knowledge" also happened to be the story that was unlike anything I have read before.
