"The which does not kill us makes us stronger." -Friedrich Nietszche
I’ve heard this quotes so many times while growing up and I never realized the meaning until I was older and had some experiences in my life. I feel this quote has a very significant meaning to it. When I read it, I feel like he is saying that if whatever you are doing doesn’t break you down, then it has only made you stronger in the sense that you can learn from it. To me knowledge is power, and when you attempt to do something and you fail at it, you cannot look at it as only a failure but also a lesson learned for your next attempt. I identify most with this quote because I’ve been in situations where this has applied to me scholastically, socially, emotionally, and many other ways. For example, when I first got to high school I was definitely not in the habit of studying, I honestly didn’t know how to study! So when I got to high school and realized that studying was something that was going to be required of me, I tried just looking at the pages and some notes. This resulted in a grade that was completely unacceptable, so instead of letting it defeat my spirit and giving up in this class, I decided to take a different approach! I made flashcards, reviewed notes, read the book, and a couple other things. By doing so, it resulted in a much, much higher grade and I felt aware of what studying habits work best for me! Another example is when my mom was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis! It took a major toll on her and my whole family. Although it was a lot to bare at first, we realized and made the decision that we would not let this break our family! In doing so, we have grown so much over the last several years and our family has never been as strong and unified as it is today! Those are just a few example on how and why I identify with this quote so much!
