The quote that I connect with the most is “That which does not kill us, only makes us stronger,” by Friedrich Nietszche. I connect with this quote because over the past year I have gone through some hard times and became very depressed. This is going to be my topic for the personal narrative, so I will not divulge to much information. However, I will just give some of the main points. I am a transfer student this year, from the University of Wisconsin. For University of Wisconsin, I was also on the tennis team. At the end of my freshman year the coach that recruited me decided he no longer wanted to coach college tennis. Due to him resigning we had to get a new coach. So, for my sophomore year I had another coach. From the first three weeks in to my sophomore year, I wanted to transfer. This new coach was horrible. Once I told her that I was going to be transferring I thought that things where going to get better. She promised me certain things and I was good with the fact that everything would be over soon. However, everything she told me was a lie. In the next week she called a meeting and kicked me off the team. I was devastated. I was also informed that my scholarship was going to be up at the end of the year, so if I wanted to stay I could not. This coach kept the other girls on the team from talking to me or hanging out with me. I had to move out of my apartment and find another one. I never thought I was going to get through this. Some how I found a way to push through from the middle of October to May and finish my sophomore year at Wisconsin. During that time I also made the best decision of my life, and that was to commit to the East Carolina University tennis team. If this hard time had never happened I would not have been able to actually find myself and know how mentally tough I actually am. Today, I am now a stronger person and able to handle many more obstacles.
