For my personal narrative I wrote about my experience i had with my car accident my junior year of high school. For me it was a very traumatic event. I spent months refusing to ride in anything smaller than an SUV. Still to this day it has left me with some emotional scars. This event probably is the one event that has caused me the most impact of most events in my life. I was lucky to not be seriously injured in it, much less living. I think the details I am going to use to support my thesis is that we need to be grateful for the life we have and not to take any days for granted. At least I donít. Not anymore. I would like to give examples of the types of anxiety I now get from being in the wreck. I get very anxious when I'm in the car with someone, especially at night, and on back roads. I wrecked on a country road at night. Especially if the person I am riding with is speeding I get really high anxiety. I have actually had panic attacks while being in the car with someone and itís never a good thing for me. I want to be able to let go and just have fun but I canít let go of the anxiety i still feel. I am too worried about the same thing happening again, but this time I might not be so lucky as to walk away like I did the first time. I do not want to die, so obviously I am not going to take any chances that might cause it to happen again. I donít want to take any days for granted. When I was told that if the car had gone much further that it would have flipped I was really distraught. Learning to be grateful shouldn't have to be learned through going through a near death experience, but for me, thats what it took. As much as I miss that car that is still one lesson I donít know if i would have learned otherwise. (355)
