I also teach kindergarten and find it very difficult to get them where they need to be at the end of the year with thier wriritng. Just like you said these students come to you with little to no knowledge about letters and then by the end of the year they are expected to be able to write 2-3 sentences about a topic independently. I feel like high expectations are set for them but we have not been taught or provided with the appropriate way to help them achieve these expectations.
