Thank you for your kind feedback! Our goal was to attempt transfer of what we have learned in the clinic to a regular classroom setting..which more than likely eliminates the one-to-one delivery of instruction since that's just not feasible. The reading group lesson you saw was these students "reading group". They also received whole group reading (brief, to the point) and had the chance to work with grade-level texts and completed comprehension activities, just at a separate time of day. We actually held the Early Steps groups four days a week - no one did small groups on Fridays. My thought was that If the kids in my ES groups couldn't read, the goal was to get them to the point that they could engage in text and only then could they even be expected to engage in the higher-level written work -- of course, their listening comprehension is okay - so whole group reading worked that. We will continue using the Early Steps groups and hopefully be able to make the transition to a more difficult lesson plan later in the year.

        That makes sense...you're students seem to be getting lots of great reading instruction! Looks like fun and makes me miss Bethel:)
