Changing the format of the text forced students to attend to each word instead of memorizing lines or sentences. Finger-point reading also increased with this change in format. My students have moved up and are all reading at a level D! I think the focused practice with targeted words along with word sorts and even more practice in literacy work stations have made a huge difference.
