I think that you could modify and use these interventions with 3rd grade level text. I really think that targeting specific words and giving them practice with those before the reading really helped support them as readers going into the text. I don't see why that wouldn't also help readers at a higher reading level. Also, the repeated readings gave them an opportunity for repeated exposure and an opportunity to practice reading with fluency.
