They really did grow quickly! This is my first semester taking Grad Classes, so I'm not very familiar with the class you are referring to (I've heard about it). At first I only did actual guided reading with my struggling readers while the other groups did other things with my assistant, but when my little group passed RB and we were able to start on level A text, I began meeting with my other groups as well, since that is the level that some were at and others were ready to move on. Especially since in December, when we do benchmarks, the state wants them to be at a level C, which in my opinion is too high of a goal at that point seeing as the end of year goal in May is a level D.
My high group has really soared- they're able to read sentences like "Can you see me skip?" "My dad and a cat can see me." My "average" groups are able to read those same sentences but need picture clues in order to read it (they struggle with blending sounds, so they use pictures to help figure out the word).

You seemed to devote alot of instructional time to your intervention strategies, and I think this definitely helped with the progress. With our music study, we weren't given as much intervention... more

Oh the class I was referring to is the ASU Clinic. You will have it during the summer most likely. It is where you use Darrel Morris's one-to-one tutoring model with struggling readers. It was one of ... more

Yes, last year I think only 1/3 of the class was at a level C, and a lot of parents of those children who were on grade level (at a RB - reading behaviors) at the beginning of the year freaked out. I ... more
