I really enjoyed hearing your process for getting your kindergarteners to improve their writing skills. I appreciated the student work samples because that gave me a very clear understanding of the students' growth. It is amazing that you can focus in and work really hard in one intervention then you get to see the results like you had. All of the students progressed pretty quickly in the targeted areas that you were working on. I especially liked the checklist you used to collect your data. That is a great tool to use during writing workshop.

We don't have very much time to have writer's workshop in 3rd grade because we are so worried about getting them prepared for the big EOG but I have been trying to have it at least 2 days a week. Then I try to get them to write at least once a day through reading response questions. I think the checklist would be a good way for me to organize what I expect of them and document who is doing what.
