The Boyle paper was very different then writing the personal narrative paper. For the Boyle paper, it took a longer process of figuring out which two stories to compare and contrast. Then deciding on which points and quotations to interpret. As well as deciding which quotes best supported your analysis. The Boyle paper took more steps and organizing than the personal narrative did. In the personal narrative essay, one I decided on an event the essay started to flow and it was easier to get my main point across. I found it easier to write the personal narrative essay for this reason. Writing about an experience was more enjoyable to write than a critical analysis. To be honest, my Boyle paper was not a very strong paper. My weaknesses were seen in organizing and transitioning ideas. Also, I struggled with clearly getting my analysis across. However, I think my strength was choosing the stories to compare and contrast. I chose Modern Love and Cardinal Knowledge. Both stories follow the same plot—a desperate thirty-year-old seeking sex from a hot younger woman with a weird obsession—but their ending was the main difference. The difference was in how the story ended. In Modern Love, the narrator tried to savor their relationship by confessing his “love” for Bredda. In Cardinal Knowledge, Jim did the opposite; he soon was over his feelings for Alena because in the end she was just a hot girl. I believe choosing these two stories to talk about was one of my main strengths because they were very entertaining stories to read and they were very easy to relate to each other. However, my weakness I think was executing the paper properly. Next time, I have to take more time and effort in planning out each body paragraph and not repeating myself. In conclusion, I enjoyed writing the personal narrative essay much more because it was on an event that did impact my life in several different ways. It was easier to decide what to focus on and execute my point clearly. In both papers, I think my main weakness is flowing from idea to idea and organizing my thoughts.
