There was a big difference when it came to writing the Boyle paper from writing my narrative paper. Writing my narrative was easy because I was writing a paper based on the events that happened in my life. There was no write or wrong answer. Even though I thought the narrative was easy, I got a bad grade. After writing the Boyle paper, I felt that it was easier to write it because we were given plenty of examples. It also seemed easier because there was more than one answer. As long as we were able to support what we were thinking, we would get a good grade. The lack of detail was my problem in my last paper. In the Boyle paper, detail did not seem to be needed as much because the quotes summed up what I was trying to infer.
I feel really good about my paper. I wish I could have had it checked out to make sure it was good. After getting a bad grade on the last paper, I made sure to do better on this one. I am more confident about this paper because I took the time to write out the comparisons and differences. I also highlighted text in the Boyle book that supported my thoughts. I believe one of my strengths was the fact that I had a quote to support everything I wrote. The whole point of this paper was to be able to make inferences and prove them by reading. I know for a fact that I succeeded in doing that.
I already know my paper was not perfect. After my first paper, I had a reality check. I know I could have probably done better in many ways. A possible weakness that my paper had was that I kept going from one story to another. I know in class we discussed by doing that, it would be confusing to the audience. After rereading my paper countless of times, I did not think it was confusing at all. I made it very specific who I was addressing and from what story this character came from. Perhaps, you, the teacher, may find it to be confusing and dock my grade down by 3 letter grades for it but I was confident in my writing. The narrative prepared me for this paper so hopefully I will be proud of my work when I get my grade back and I see that it is not a horrible grade.
