Boyle/Personal Narrative
Fri Mar 20, 2015 1:26pm

Writing the Boyle paper was completely different from writing the personal narrative. While writing the personal narrative you're just writing everything off the top of your head since its your version of the story and the audience is reading the story for the first time. When writing the Boyle paper it involved a lot more, with every idea I wrote about I then had to go back into the book to prove what I was saying. The audience was different as well since the person reading my paper had already heard the Boyle stories and formed their own opinions. I did like the format of the Boyle paper better though, I liked how when writing it was more about proving your theory then it was telling a story to the audience. I found the personal narrative easier to write because it was basically a free write. I could write about anything I wanted to with the personal narrative and format the way the story flowed however I wanted. The Boyle paper wasn't difficult to write but it did involve a lot more thinking when trying to make the different ideas flow and bringing the stories together in the end using the same themes as Boyle. I think my Boyle paper is pretty solid, with every idea I included one or two quotes from each story to back it up. Although I think the Boyle paper was pretty good I feel like it could always be better. Thinking back on the paper now I wish I had included more quotes for proof and included a few more ideas to support what I felt the themes were. I felt when I was writing the Boyle paper I couldn't find the words I wanted to really show how Boyle used the same themes in different stories. I also felt like some of the paragraphs didn't flow as easy as I wanted them too, I felt like between each paragraph there should have been a sentence to lead up to the next paragraphs idea. However I am a bit happier with the Boyle paper then I was with my personal narrative.
