For the argument paper the final topic that I have picked is on whether or not MMA or mixed martial arts should be a legal sport or if it should be banned. Over the years since its professional sport start in America there have been times that it has received major heat and criticism for it. The two sides of the argument are obviously if it should still be considered legal or if it should be banned as have been done in some states for periods of time. People want to have it banned for it is a major combat sport between two fighters and they believe it promotes violence towards those who view it. Also people believe that the sport is dangerous and leads to serious injuries for the fighters either in the moment or even long-term damage to their bodies and even their brain. The other argument of why people want to have it remain is that it is a sport that is something different, something that we donít get to experience watching other sports such as basketball or football. It brings entertainment to viewers because it takes competition and as people we love seeing that. Also people believe that getting involved in MMA allows for the growth of self-discipline and control of the fighters that often times would end up living different lives if they hadnít gotten involved with MMA. Another point is that MMA has well-constructed rules and procedures that try and limit the amount of harm that can happen between fighters, such as when the referee will call the match when he can tell that the other fighter is unable to fight. In doing this people say that it is safer than other contact sports such as football or wrestling for short term and even for their health in the long run. For the sources that I have found the main one was an article on the ECU database that gave both support and arguments for whether or not MMA should be allowed or not. With more support through the sources being found for the argument paper.
