What my first option for the argument paper before was police brutality. However there was not really a counter argument or even a supporting argument because it is morally unaccepted to say you are for police brutality. My final topic ended up to be if Animal testing should be allowed or not. I am against animal testing because of all the horrific tests they run on animals. Most people agree with me because they too believe it to be wrong. In Peter Singer’s book “Animal Liberation: The Definitive Classic of the Animal Movement”, he writes an entire chapter devoted to animal testing. In excruciating detail, Singer talks about female monkeys being raped by other primates in order to research the mother’s behavior toward the result of that rape, which is followed by the mothers smashing their baby’s head repeatedly on the ground and rubbing it back and forth. This is one example of the psychological issues, such as depression and rage that stem from animal research. A study conducted at the Heller Institute of Medical Research in Israel included thirty dogs and a temperature-controlled room. These canines were forced to exercise in temperatures over 110 degrees Fahrenheit until they vomited, seized, convulsed, or even worse, died. However there are some people that do not care what happens to the animals and believe the animal testing should continue. They believe it necessary in order to achieve results for the greater good of the human race. Regarding medicines to cure and or prevent an illness, and can also be used for research to see how medical interventions affect outcomes. The reason that I am against animal testing is because I am the type of guy that will not feel sad at all when people die in a movie however when I am watching a movie and a dog or other animal dies I get pretty sad. That being said, I love animals. What they do to them is barbaric and gruesome and end with most of the animals dying because of the tests. To think of my Collie being tested on to the point of death is unbearable and I cannot think of other animals getting tested on either. The print source was the most helpful and had the most accurate information. The book is called "Animal Liberation" and it is written by Peter Singer.
