Writing my argument paper was a long process. First, I had to decide which topic I wanted to research and write about. I knew Animal Captivity is a growing issue and it is something that interests me. I research more about Animal Captivity to make sure I would have enough research to make a supported argument. Finding information on this topic was very easy and there were many different sources to use. However, many sources were blogs and not reliable sources, so it was difficult making sure I did not use those in my paper. After gathering information and statistics, I had to narrow down which points I wanted to emphasis to make my argument come across clear. Then, I began writing my paper. I added in statistics and citations as my paper came along. The hardest part of writing my paper was making sure that all the information flowed nicely. Also, I found a lot of information about elephants in captivity, but I tried not to make my entire paper about only elephants; this was difficult at first. The strongest points of my paper were the actual facts I had to back up my argument. For example, stating that animals have a miserable life in captivity is not as strong as explaining that many animals get zoochosis in captivity. I think that explaining and giving examples to each of my points made my argument clearer and stronger. I am most concerned that my paper does not flow from idea to idea in an organized matter. Condensing my paper to only focusing on certain examples and issues was difficult; therefore I am not sure if each issue flows into the next. I always struggle with organization in my papers. This paper was very difficult organizing because there was so much information that I could use, it was hard minimizing the amount of issues to talk about. Overall, I do not think the argument paper was my best paper but I do think that it is a pretty solid argument paper. My argument paper provides enough facts and information to persuade someone to fight against animal captivity.
