My experience in this class is just further supported by that video; you just never know what to expect. I think one of the reasons I enjoyed this course is because of that mysterious element. Just when I thought I had the class all figured out, I get hit with an in-class reading essay. One thing I really enjoyed about this class were the free-writes because it just allowed to express things that you were thinking about but just never said to anyone. There were some days where I just didnt feel like being in class but after doing a free-write I just seemed to feel better about things. This has definitely been the most serious English course I have ever taken. As for other classes prior to this, I barely had anyone trouble passing, it just came natural to me. However, in this class I can definitely say I struggled but that is where the learning came in. I have benefitted the most from the criticism given, readings, and reading essays. This was the first English class where my teacher actually went really in-depth into grading essays and I think that is vital. There have been many essays I have typed in the past that received an A when it truly deserved a B or C. When it comes to the readings, I really enjoyed the T.C. Boyle stories and it definitely challenged my thinking at times. I remember reading certain stories and then going back to review and learning new things or missing context clues and symbols. I think this class challenged me to truly try and reach my potential. I say that because of the papers that we had to write and all of the time and effort that I put into them where normally I just would start writing and let it piece itself together. Another thing is that I actually enjoyed coming to class whereas I cant say that about every class I have taken. The humor/sarcasm really made class more enjoyable, rather than countless lecture after lecture. I would say that in my opinion everything in this class had some value, it just takes the student to realize it.
