I had a pretty positive experience in this class. The attendance policy really motivated me to attend class. I have struggled with that this year but knowing how much it affected my grade really helped me get out of bed in the mornings. The class was pretty fun and I could always count on an interesting conversation, a chuckle, or clever sarcasm. The papers we were given were spaced out and I really liked how we outlined how to write them in class. This really helped me when it came down to actually writing my papers. In previous English classes, assignments were given but it was never really explained exactly how to make a good grade on them. Also, my previous classes have been completely teacher lecture only. This class was more of a discussion and I think that really engages the class to learn better. I donít think I have benefited from weekly discussions. If anything, it's been really hard to remember them so it has only brought down my grade. I understand that the student is responsible for all assignments but I see no value in the weekly discussions especially because a lot of topics seems redundant and were hard to write 350 words about. Another thing I didnít really care for was the Boyle stories. They were okay but they were not really intriguing nor did they motivate me want to read them. They did not do a good job of catching the readerís attention, at least in my opinion. Despite the few things I did not care for, I feel that this class has prepared me for future English classes and made me a better writer. My hopes and goals are that this class makes my future projects much easier. I think that I have become better at planning out my writing and mapping my paper out so when I write it, it can flow together better. Overall, I enjoyed this class. The small class setting was also very nice. Most of my classes are lecture hall classes so it was a refreshing change from that.
