This was one of the more enjoyable English classes that Iíve had throughout my schooling. I really enjoyed how this class actually focused on writing (surprising right?) more than reading a pointless book. Most other English teachers that Iíve had would just give assignment after assignment and that would be it. It was really helpful that we actually went over what to do for each paper, instead of just leaving us to fend for ourselves. I believe completely that I would have done much worse if I did not have examples and tips to look back on to help me write these papers. Although the grading on papers was tough, I do believe that it was fair. When it came to the few readings we did, I was glad that we didnít stick to one novel. Although it was technically the same book, there were different stories. When I first received the book I was praying we were not going to read the entire book. The stories were not overly analyzed either. In previous classes, we spent about three weeks on each novel we read and the teachers wanted us to pull some deep meaning behind the authorsí words. The free writes were interesting also as most of my other English teachers never allowed us to write about whatever we wanted to. There were times I would come into class and not know what to expect. I never knew what we were going to discuss. Concerning papers once more, I honestly believe that I am now more prepared when it comes to writing a paper. Especially when it comes to writing research papers. I did not really know how to use the ECU libraries site to find more credible sources but now I will use it every time. Although the discussion boards were something I didnít specifically enjoyed, I soon learned that they tied in to what we were working on in class. Whether that be a paper or an upcoming discussion. This English class was actually enjoyable and I actually did not hate every minute of it, which is good I suppose.
