The quote “That which does not kill us makes us stronger” by Friedrich Nietzsche is a quote that can relate to everyday life and I think everyone can find some truth in. Throughout life, everyone is going to experience good times and bad times, but I believe what we endure and experience make us who we are. Everyone in life will have to overcome something, such as death, a fight with friends and family, money issues or simply a tough class, and by overcoming the task at hand makes an individual stronger than before. Also, a person learns how much they can withstand without giving up and be able to push through their struggles. For example, after I injured my knee playing basketball I became stronger. The injury did not kill me, I was able to move forward become more determined to get better and strengthen my knee to prevent another injury. I learned how much pain physically I could tolerate and that made me stronger than before. Every person has their own scale and tolerance for what they are capable of enduring without reaching their breaking point. However, strength is not just measured by a person’s physical capabilities; it can also refer to the emotional stability a person has. The strongest of people will be able to forgive and forget, while weak people will never move on. Strong people will be able to put differences behind them, and have the courage to help someone no matter what the circumstances are. If you are able to survive something, you are become stronger then you were before. Everyday life brings new challenges and obstacles, but being able to face them head on with out fear makes us strong. If a person lives each day worried about their day they will not become a strong person in the end. This puts the little things in life into perspective and really realizing what is important in life. Nietzsche’s quote can mean different things to everyone, but to me it means that each and everyday, whatever we overcome, big or little, we become that much stronger.
