Out of the two quotes, I would most closely relate to “That which does not kill us makes us stronger” by Nietszche. I mostly identify with this quote based on my life experiences in the past year. After dealing with not only just a rough senior year, but also the hardest year of my life, I can look back from where I am now and see that everything that happened to me made me stronger in some kind of way. My first week of senior year started off with finding out that my parents were separating and that I would be moving from my childhood home in a couple of days, getting broken up with by my boyfriend and best friend of 2 and a half years, and discovering that my best friends throughout all of high school were not the friends I thought they were and not the friends I needed them to be. Needless to say, I was dealing with a lot of unexpected things all at once and it was devastating for me. It was very difficult trying to be supportive of my parents’ decision, trying to get over my ex-boyfriend, and trying to find new friends after everyone at my school had always hung out with the same people. Although it didn’t take me too long to find a new group of friends to help me get through my issues, the first half of my senior year still definitely had some dark days. But as time went on, I eventually began gaining hope that everything that happened to me had to have happened for a reason, and I decided to choose happiness over all the questioning and sadness I had acquired for the first half of the year because I knew that it could be worse and I was still very blessed. Now I can see that it was a good thing for me to meet new friends because now I know what kind of people I want to support me when I need them to. I know that although I was very happy with him, my ex breaking up with me was the best thing that could happen to me because I am so much more independent and sure of myself than I ever have been before. And I can also see that both of my parents are happier and better off without each other, and that helps me to be sure that I marry someone who I have 100% faith in and who will always make me happy.
