I enjoyed reading my own narrative. I decided to write about something personal. Not many people can relate what happened to me in my narrative. I tried desperately to make it enjoyable to read and to grab the audienceís attention. As long as I grabbed the readerís attention then I feel that I succeeded for the most part.
I am glad that I was able to write a little more than four pages. Usually when I have a writing assignment, I struggle to write the minimum. My paper had many strengths and I can admit that I probably needed to improve on a few things. I can proudly say that I chose an attention-grabbing topic to write about. That was my greatest strength.
Another strength that I feel my paper had was my grammar. I was very mindful of how I used certain words in certain situations. If I am writing for a grade, then I want to try my best to get the highest grade, which involves not using incorrect grammar. I also made sure not to use the same word too often. You, Professor Bates, mentioned this in class the previous week. The less errors I can avoid, the better.
There are a few things that I am apprehensive about. At first I liked the title of my paper. I wanted the reader to wonder what the title meant and in order to figure it out, they obviously had to read my paper. On the day it was due, I felt like the title was dumb. I do not know if I felt like this because I was nervous or if my title really was dumb.
I am also apprehensive about how much detail I gave off. I wanted to describe the story well but at the same time, I did not want to describe every single detail. Now that I look back on it, perhaps I should of added a little more detail. The two main things that I am apprehensive about, I can look back at when I write my next paper fro English.
My writing process was very simple. On a piece of paper, I wrote down questions I would have if I were reading my own paper. I also wrote down specifics such as who, what, when, where and why. I think as long as I answered those questions then my paper would be very understandable. After writing down notes, I just wrote away. Since it was an incident in my life that had a big impact on my, it was very easy to write about.
