Honestly, the paper was a lot easier to write then I expected. I started my writing process with a bubble map. I just wrote my subject in the middle and branched off into every possible thing I could remember about my brother being in the hospital. Then I crossed off the things I didnít want in my paper and expanded into more details about the things that I did want in the paper. Next I just started writing. When I first started, it seemed like four pages would be a lot but I realized that I started to fill up the pages pretty quickly. As I would write, I would look at my bubble map to make sure I was staying consistent and not babbling. The event really had a huge impact on my life therefore giving me plenty to write about. I found myself having to condense or remove certain elements from my narrative so that the paper wouldnít be too long. I feel that the strengths in my paper are the themes that were given off throughout the story and how they came together at the end to finally make sense. I also really liked my title, ďNerf guns, Hospitals, and Rock Road Ice Cream.Ē I feel that the title would spark interest and make people want to see how those things connect with each other. I am most apprehensive about my flow. There were certain points in my paper where I wasnít sure if it followed the paragraph before it or if it would lead into the next paragraph or not. I hadnít really thought about the hospital incident in a while so being reminded of how lucky I am that my brother is alive today was very refreshing. It made me reminisce on how close my family became during that time and how much they mean to me. Itís always a good feeling to look at how far youíve come and how much youíve grown since then. Iím very proud of how my family pulled together to get through Willís medical emergency and how close we have stayed ever since then. As a matter of fact, it will be five years since the surgery next week.
