Children are certainly dependent on technology today! I personally think it does hinder traditional ways of literacy. During this unit we have learned about emergent literacy and how it is important for children to learn to correctly handle a book- to be able to identify it's parts, be able to maneuver throughout the pages, and I feel that is lost when using technology because most of this is done by the program itself. I'm not sure if these methods of teaching students to read and write are being phased out by all the technology. Do we change the way we teach students both with and without ASD to read and write or do we change the way they are learning?
