Yes! I think priming is something that is so important. It reminds me of an anticipatory set, or the "hook" of a lesson. So maybe "priming" can be introducing the subject, getting the students engaged, interested, and ready to learn more about the topic. I also was reading about comprehension and how students may be more successful in comprehending narrative readings more than expository or vice versa. I think that especially in regards to expository or scientific readings, students should be "primed". If new topics are going to be introduced in a reading the students should be introduced to the topic in a more visual, tangible way first. This is beneficial for more reasons than one. Not only will they be familiarized with the topic, but they will comprehend the reading as well as be able to focus on the reading rather than get hung up on the confusion of the subject.

        Thank you for this response! I think that front loading is an excellent way to make sure that students have a solid foundation on which to approach the learning targets!

          That is a great point! I agree that teaching across the curriculum is a way to integrate subjects, expand knowledge of a topic, and a great way to use priming.
