I agree with your assessment of Structural Cues. I also think it is important for the students to know and use signal words when trying to comprehend a text. These words will alert the students to same words and different words. The words for same are: both, alike, can, same. The words for different are: two kinds, different, cannot, and do not. These words help change their focus so they can remember and answer comprehension questions correctly.
