Amy, I did not think of it in this way. While thinking of teaching students with ASD about different text features, I thought it might be a little more difficult for them to comprehend. We can use text features as a springboard, just as you said. If a student is particularly adept at comprehending visual information, charts or pictures would benefit them in the understanding of a text. I believe that this is a useful tool for all students to use, not just students with ASD. Thank you for changing my mind on the subject! It may be difficult for students to understand some of the texts features, but some can aid in comprehension.
