Sarah, I completely agree with you! I really appreciate what you said about making sure one student does not dominate the activity. I have found that when partnering students of a high ability level and a low ability level, the student with the high ability level tends to do the majority of the work, which is not beneficial to the other student. Partners should be chosen carefully so that the relationship is beneficial to both students. I love the idea of partnering because it does allow students to form social bonds that might not have developed otherwise. You provided really helpful insight!
