Hey guys!

I really enjoyed reading your lesson plan for this week. Our group also focused a part of our lesson plan around comparing and contrasting. This is a very important skill for students to learn and y'all did a great job creating a lesson that highlights how to present this concept. The introduction to this plan is fantastic. The questions presented get the kids thinking about dogs and what they look like and how they act. Once they have an idea of what a dog "is", they can now compare it to another dog to see how they are the same (color, size, etc.) and how they are different.

I like how the lesson planned is designed so that the teacher is asked to stop after every page and to monitor the students response quality to get an idea of how much the lesson is sticking ("They should make sure that the students are pointing out the difference in height using names instead of just saying “one is bigger.”").

I think that introducing the Venn diagram mid-lesson is a good idea. Sometimes it can be very distracting to introduce all the materials at once and then tell a student we will be using this later just don't worry about it now. I also like how you have the guided and independent practice sections structured; it represents a great example of how to properly fade modeling when teaching.

(Food for thought)For my question in the assessment section: "To see if the goal/objectives have been met, the teacher will monitor input from each student and take informal observation notes.” Hypothetically, if John did not respond well to a certain part/ any part of the lesson, how would you go about addressing that situation?
