Vocabulary Instruction

This is so true that students with ASD have trouble understand new vocabulary by accessing background knowledge. Students with ASD need a pre-lesson to understand vocabulary and new concepts that will be taught before reading the text. I think it is important as well to teach students with ASD how to use the text to figure out what a new word means. For my students I would implement a checklist to help them learn how to identify new words in a text. Thanks for the reminder of the importance of this skill :)
