i think that absolutely re readings helps with comprehension and fluency and rate. They are all connected. As your rate and your fluency increase, your comprehension, not only of the piece itself but also strategies for other readings, increases as well. I know that in reading clinics, the daily routine is that you give a child a piece to read in the morning and he will read that same piece for homework and will read it again to you the next morning. This rereading helps with all aspects of literacy skills.
