He was not sounding out the words and reading them per-say, but since the words were repeated on each page, he was using word recognition and he knew what the sentence was going to say. I think that simply supporting the student with ASD and making sure that the information was presented to them in a way that would be manageable to them would help to lessen or prevent this plateau.
