I agree, Navila. Determining the student's greatest need is POWERFUL in helping them learn. Unfortunately, this can take some ferreting out! But, once identified, and successful interventions are in place, it's like watching magic happen. Good observation about the power of illustrations in teaching students with ASD to read. So many students that I have worked with do so much better with visual cues to support the verbal.
