Yes, I agree with you! I saw this put into place with the little girl Cora that I know. While it is important to use the things that they are interested in, I think that getting them interested in other things is important as well. For doing this with ASD students, I think that it would be important to slowly incorporate new things into their readings.

        I believe books like Henry's freedom box for example would work in this situation. It is about slavery but also describes Henry's journey on a boat.
