I think this is a great idea to have students write as much as they can and then allow them to look up words when preparing to write a second draft. I personally love writing, but I know that usually for longer pieces (stories, essays) you have most of the ideas at first and you may forget them, so it is smart to get it all out on paper once. I also know that when we as teachers only correct on grammar and spelling, we are missing the point to stress about quality, such as enough detail, supporting facts, etc. which really complete a writing piece rather than the conventions.
