I love the idea of the shared journal! And I agree that it is a good way to connect parents, teachers and students. I saw a video once in which a teacher used a journal as a way to communicate with a student. He would ask her things or share things with her and she would respond in writing. It was a neat way to encourage writing and the student could not wait to see what the teacher had written back!
