I wasn't thinking about how texting and messaging format may interfere with the real writing we want to receive and see as teachers. I know they made it clear that most students were not to focus on spelling and grammar, however you bring up a valid point because what if our students start using emoticons and emojis in their emails? I believe that in the rubric, there should be adjustments and a place where students most check off that there were not abbreviations used or emoticons used for words in their emails. During this day and age, it would be difficult to make it clear to students how they need to type and write.

I liked that a lot too. The students would definitely have fun having a pen pal and getting messages back and forth. The point of it was to teach correct ways to E-mail and format those, so this will ... more
