I agree, Haley, that I was also apprehensive. I think this view on writing instruction is unique and will help me in my future classroom. I think letting our students know that their writing has meaning and is effective is so important. Rather than constantly correcting them, building them up and showing them that writing can be fun would be extremely gratifying for them. I think that creativity is something we have lost value of in our education system and it is something we need to bring back.

        Exactly! I was never given the opportunity to free-write until college and I struggled with it so much. Hopefully, the cycle will end though!
