I've noticed at the Communication Disorders Clinic that when clients are considered for receiving an assistive device that there is a 30 day trial period for the device before ordering their own device. In these 30 days, the client and their parents/caregiver are trained on how to use the device and to even see if the device is actually working for them in their everyday life. I think it's very crucial teachers and students are given instruction on how to use these devices because how can they be assistive if no one knows how to properly use them?
