Great mini-lesson, guys. I like the initiation of the activity. It helps that they will have some context for their audience already, having corresponded with their pen pals before. I think my favorite thing about your lesson is the use of pictures to prompt details and sharp memories. This could be super helpful for our kids with ASD. One thing I might add to the mini-lesson is an explicit brief conversation about audience and why we have to think about who we're writing to. What are they interested in and what kind of 'tone' would we use with an adult pen pal or a teacher as opposed to a friend, etc. Good work on a straightforward and useful lesson!
