Yeah, a story map is something like what I was thinking to have students do in order to keep up with what is occurring in the story. But, somehow making it more than just writing down the facts of the story? Yes, the students are divided into groups based on their mclass reading levels, which is a complex assessment system that gives students reading levels. Typically, the students are tested at the beginning, middle, and the end of the year and can move levels throughout the year. The levels are labeled alphabetically, and in each grade they are supposed to jump a significant amount of levels!
